TRANSCREATION

Transcreation is a portmanteau of ‘translation’ and ‘creative.’ It’s a service designed to translate marketing and advertising copy.

TRANSLATORS THAT THINK LIKE MARKETERS

At its core, transcreation is copywriting.

They think about the local market. How something will hit your audience’s ear. What emotions it’ll stir up. And who will resonate with the message. So when they translate, they translate more than words.

They’re translating feeling.

A SPECIALISED TRANSCREATION AGENCY

Words in Translation is a transcreation agency focused on marketing and advertising.

Our 6-step service means that you’ll receive professional, localised copy that will land in any market.

MORE ROOM TO EXPLORE

Transcreation starts with the same attention to quality of our ISO certified process, but the journey is a little different. Rather than working towards a single rendition from the start, our team explores different ways your message could work in the local market.

Every project brings together a lead transcreator, a second marketing-specialised linguist, and your WIT project manager, with multiple routes developed, challenged and refined before they reach you.

Brief

First, we dig into the thinking behind the copy. We review your brief, brand guidelines, visuals, and campaign context to understand what needs to stay and what can flex. If useful, we can also arrange a briefing call to explore your campaign goals, tone of voice, and audience with you before we get started.

01

Finalisation

The work then returns to the lead transcreator, who reviews every suggestion from the reviser and makes the final decisions. Where needed, they discuss key points with the reviser and project manager before finalising the wording, back-translations, and rationales

for each option.

04

Translation

Your lead transcreator explores different ways to bring the message into the local market. For headlines, we typically create 2–3 options, ranging from closer adaptations to freer alternatives. Each comes with an English back-translation and a short rationale, so you can understand both the wording and the thinking behind each route.

02

WIT QA

Before anything reaches you, a WIT project manager carries out a final quality check. We review the options against your brief, alongside the back-translations, rationales, formatting, and any project-specific requirements. If we spot anything that needs another look, it goes straight back to the transcreation team before delivery.

05

Revision

A second marketing-specialised linguist reviews every option with fresh eyes. They challenge the choices, finesse the wording, and assess each route against the original brief, considering tone, impact, and local relevance. Their feedback gives the lead transcreator another perspective and helps us strengthen each option before it reaches you.

03

Delivery

We share the options and local insight with you, with two rounds of feedback included to refine your preferred direction. Once you’ve made your final choice, we ask you to share the selected option with us, so we can maintain consistency and build a stronger understanding of your local brand for future projects.
